Video

The dashcam records video to its SD card. Roudiy uploads short clips for safety events automatically and lets you pull anything else on request. Each kind of video answers a different question.

Kind Question it answers Truck must be running?
Live stream What is happening right now? Yes
Snapshot What does the camera see this minute? Yes
SD card video What happened at 2:15 pm yesterday? No, it waits up to 7 days
Event clip What happened during this safety event? Comes on its own

A live stream shows one camera in real time. Streaming uses minutes from a monthly allowance: by default 10 minutes per camera per month, set by your plan. The button tells you what is left, for example Live stream: 7:30 left this month on CH1. When it runs out you see Live stream limit reached. Resets on Nov 1.

To save minutes, Roudiy asks Still watching? from time to time. The stream stops if nobody answers — it saves your monthly minutes. Only one camera per truck streams at a time, and colleagues can join a running stream (Live now on CH1 — Join).

A sleeping truck cannot stream: The dashcam sleeps when the ignition is off (ACC OFF). Try again when the truck is running.

A snapshot is a quick look: a Photo or a Clip (10 s) from one channel. Roudiy waits up to 4 minutes for the truck to answer. If the truck is offline or the ignition is off, the button is disabled. Snapshots from the last 7 days stay in the recent list.

Use this when you need footage from the past. You choose a vehicle, a channel and a time. The SD card stores video in segments: Segments are 3 min each. One request takes up to 3 segments in a row (9 minutes) from one channel, and a truck can have one request in progress at a time.

  • QueuedRequest created
  • Waiting for deviceTruck offline; retried up to 7 days
  • UploadingTruck is sending the video
  • ReadyWatch or download; kept 30 days
  • FailedNo device in 7 days, timeout or camera error
  • OverwrittenFootage already overwritten on the card
An SD card request ends as Ready, Failed or Overwritten. You get a notification when it is ready.

The truck uploads it when online. You get a notification when it’s ready (usually a few minutes). Footage on the SD card is overwritten over time, so request older video soon. If the time is already gone, you see Selected time is no longer on the SD card.

When the kit creates a safety event, Roudiy fetches a clip for it without anyone asking. The road and driver cameras play side by side, in sync. In Camera & privacy, the event video upload matrix decides which channels are saved for which event type: Unchecked channels are not saved for that event type.

For a Collision or SOS, Roudiy also requests 3 minutes of road video before and after the event and locks it. These requests show Requested by: Automatic (safety event).

Video is not kept forever. Videos pulled from dashcam SD cards. Ready videos are kept for 30 days. The number of days is set by your plan.

To keep a video longer, lock it: Locked videos and photos are kept past the retention period until unlocked. When you unlock it, the normal retention period applies again. Collision and SOS locks are marked Locked (System) and only users with collision access can release them.

The Camera & privacy page decides Who can see driver-facing video, audio recording and which cameras upload event video.

  • Driver-facing camera (CH2): Visible to selected roles (Company Admin always sees it) or Hidden for everyone. Users without driver-facing access cannot open CH2, for example in a live stream or an event clip.
  • Audio: Record audio in saved videos turns sound on or off. It Applies to new videos only.
  • Event video upload: which channels are saved per event type.
